Self-Love is something we hear about frequently nowadays. Because the word ‘Love’ is preceded with ‘Self’ it is so easily misunderstood for being selfish. That loving yourself means disregarding or excluding others. On the contrary. Self-Love properly understood means being connected to one’s true self in a deeper way allowing for even more love, kindness and compassion to flow towards others.

Self-Love means feeding your mind, body, heart & soul in a way only you can. The longest relationship of your life is the one you have with yourself. For this post I am focusing on taking care of your own very basic needs.

Check in with yourself on these areas and evaluate if you are giving yourself what you are needing to feel well and be happy. Pay attention in the coming days if your basic foundation is well taken care of.

Mind – How mindful are you about what you are feeding your mind? Are you having enough quiet time to connect at a deeper level. You are the only one who spends the most time there. Pay attention if what you are feeding it is nourishing you or stressing you.

Body – How much do you value the building blocks you feed your body? Are you eating well to support your health? Are you getting enough sleep and rest to feel recharged? Do you spend time outdoors filling up on Nature’s healing power?

Heart – It is from here that you feel and radiate love. Its wellbeing flourishes when you are doing what you love. What brings you joy? What lights you up? What makes your heart sing?

Soul – If you have been paying attention to mind, body and heart then this area will flow effortlessly. It requires you being grounded in your physical body for you to thrive.

Choose one area you will give more yourself more Self-Love.

This Valentine’s Day the best gift to give yourself, your loved ones and the people around you is the gift of Self-Love!
